Russian forces attacked the railway station in Shostka, Sumy region, with a drone. The strike left dozens injured, according to the Telegram channel of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

"A brutal Russian drone strike hit the railway station in Shostka. All necessary services are already on the scene and have begun assisting people. Information about the casualties is being clarified. Dozens of people are known to be injured. Preliminary reports indicate that both Ukrzaliznytsia employees and passengers were at the site of the strike," the head of state said.

He also stressed that the Russians could not have been unaware that they were targeting civilians. He added that this is terror the world has no right to ignore.

"Every day, Russia takes lives. And only strength can force them to stop. We have heard strong statements from Europe and America, and it is long past time to put them into action. Words are no longer enough. Strong steps are needed," Zelenskyy added.

Russian strikes on Sumy region

On Saturday, October 4, the Russian army struck energy infrastructure in Sumy region. The city of Shostka was left without power.

Earlier, on the night of September 30, Russian forces also damaged railway infrastructure in Sumy region, disrupting train services on the Chernihiv route.

In addition, on October 1, Russian occupiers launched a massive strike on Ukraine's energy facilities. As a result, 307,000 consumers were left without electricity. Sumy region was among the targets, with strikes causing damage and power outages that led to train delays.

Russian shelling also hit an energy facility in Slavutych, Kyiv region, leaving the Chornobyl nuclear power plant in blackout mode.
