Argentine intelligence has uncovered a group of Russian spies. They were creating a local influence network to promote Moscow’s interests, according to La Derecha Diario.

The State Intelligence Secretariat of Argentina (SIDE) discovered a foreign influence network that included a group of Russian citizens residing in the country, in cooperation with Argentinians.

It is noted that these individuals are connected to the geopolitical interests of the Kremlin and were engaged in disinformation activities and manipulation of public opinion.

Connections with Prigozhin

The investigation revealed the existence of an organization called La Compañía, associated with the late leader of the Wagner PMC, Yevgeny Prigozhin, and the Lakhta Project. This project is a multi-component operation aimed at audiences in the USA, European Union countries, and Ukraine.

The likely leader of the spy group in Argentina was Russian citizen Lev Andriashvili, who acted together with his wife, Irina Yakovenko, who is also a citizen of the Russian Federation. They were responsible for financing the network and establishing contacts with local activists.

"La Compañía's objective is to form a group of individuals loyal to Russia's interests," the report says.

Among the group’s goals were also the deployment of disinformation campaigns, obtaining confidential political information, and exerting influence over funds, non-governmental organizations, and civil society organizations.

Previously, in Germany, three agents who were spying on a Ukrainian were exposed. They were charged.

RBC-Ukraine also previously reported on how the Kremlin has expanded its agent network around the world after the start of the war in Ukraine.
