Russian shelling damages buildings, hangars, and gas station in Sumy region
Russian forces continued to strike at populated areas in the border regions of the Sumy region, conducting 22 attacks throughout the day. As a result of enemy attacks, there are destruction and damage to buildings, infrastructure, and energy facilities, according to the Telegram channel of the Sumy Regional Military Administration.
During the day of August 18, Russian forces shelled the communities of Seredyno-Budsk, Khotin, Bilopillia, Krasnopilsk, Shalyhine, Esman, Mykolaiv, Velykopysarivka, and Znob-Novhorodske in the Sumy region. A total of 124 explosions were recorded.
Details of the attacks:
- Seredyno-Budsk community: Occupants conducted mortar shelling (13 explosions) and artillery fire. As a result of one artillery strike, 1 private house, a crane, 2 vehicles, storage facilities, a gas station, hangar, and power transmission line were damaged.
- Bilopillia community: The enemy conducted mortar shelling (6 explosions).
- Khotin community: Russian forces launched 16 min. As a result of one of the attacks, 1 private residence was damaged.
- Velykopysarivka community: The enemy shelled with artillery (8 explosions) and mortars (12 explosions).
- Krasnopilsk community: Occupants shelled with artillery (9 explosions). Warehouses of an agricultural enterprise were destroyed due to the strikes.
- Shalyhine community: The enemy conducted mortar shelling (7 explosions) and artillery fire (6 explosions).
- Esmansk community: Russian forces struck with AGS grenade launchers (10 explosions) and mortars (4 explosions).
- Mykolaiv rural community: The enemy dropped 13 min on the territory.
- Znob-Novhorodske community: Russian forces launched mortar attacks (4 explosions).
Situation in the Sumy region
In the Sumy region, communities in the border areas are subjected to shelling by Russian occupants almost daily. The enemy uses mortars, artillery, drones, and other types of weapons for the attacks.
On August 13, invaders shelled 9 territorial communities in the Sumy region, resulting in damage to buildings.
It was also reported that on August 11, occupants conducted 9 attacks on border communities in the Sumy region, damaging residential properties.
A day prior to that, on August 10, cultural center buildings and vehicles in some communities of the region were damaged due to Russian shelling.
