Russian Shahed drones approach Mykolaiv, explosions reported
Explosions were reported near Mykolaiv in the early hours of November 17 following sightings of enemy attack drones heading toward the city, according to Mykolaiv Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych.

Just minutes before the explosions, Ukraine’s Air Force had reported a group of Shahed drones moving toward the city.
"Explosions were heard in Mykolaiv. The Air Force has warned of the threat posed by kamikaze drones targeting the city. The air raid alert continues," wrote the mayor on social media.
Around 5 AM, additional explosions were reported in Mykolaiv.
The mayor emphasized that the threat from enemy kamikaze drones remains ongoing.
The Air Force confirmed that more Shahed drones were approaching Mykolaiv.
Meanwhile, an RBC-Ukraine correspondent reported loud explosions in the city, adding that air defense systems are actively intercepting enemy attack drones over Mykolaiv.
Update: Possible blasts in Mykolaiv
Later, Vitalii Kim, head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, reported on his Telegram channel about emergency service responses following reports of explosions in Mykolaiv.
The official noted that "assistance is being provided."
Shahed drone attack
On the evening of November 16, Russian forces launched Shahed-type kamikaze drones toward Ukraine, prompting air raid alerts across several regions.
Around midnight, reports of air defense operations targeting enemy UAVs in the Kyiv region emerged.
Later, explosions were heard in Kyiv amid the Russian air attack as combat operations were underway in the capital to shoot down Shaheds.
