Russian missiles and drones surround Ukraine in semi-circle, says Ukrainian Air Force

Today, Russia carried out another night assault on Ukraine, using various types of missiles and drones. They came from multiple directions, forming a semi-circle around the country, said Yurii Ihnat, Head of the Communications Department of the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
"A typical combined strike. Unfortunately, such attacks are happening frequently now, using different types of missiles and drones. These included air-, sea-, and land-based missiles," he said.
Ihnat noted that Russian forces used Iskander-K, Kalibr, and Kh-101 cruise missiles, as well as two Kinzhal hypersonic missiles. He added that almost all targeted Lviv region.
"The attack was massive. The numbers speak for themselves. The enemy uses different tactical methods and flight paths. A huge number come from various directions, surrounding Ukraine in a semi-circle," Ihnat said.
He explained that Russia often carries out large, focused, combined strikes on specific regions. As an example, he cited Kyiv, which was attacked by a large number of airstrike weapons from multiple directions.
Russia's massive strike on October 5
On the night of Sunday, October 5, Russia carried out a large-scale combined attack on Ukraine, using drones, cruise missiles, and Kinzhal hypersonic missiles.
Lviv and the surrounding region were hit the hardest, first by drones and then by missiles launched from the Black Sea. Zaporizhzhia was also targeted, leaving tens of thousands without power.
Damage to power lines also left parts of the Cherkasy region without electricity. In the Ivano-Frankivsk region, Russian forces struck critical infrastructure facilities.
President Zelenskyy stated that Russians fired over 50 missiles and around 500 strike drones, including cruise missiles, Shaheds, and Kinzhal missiles.
