Russian forces launched a missile strike on the city of Sumy today, May 14, killing at least one person, according to Serhii Kryvosheenko, head of the Sumy City Military Administration.

He stated that the missile targeted an industrial facility in the Sumy community.

"Unfortunately, there are injured and one person has died. Emergency services are working at the site," Kryvosheenko reported.

Russian attack on Sumy

Today, on May 14, an air alert was declared in a number of regions of Ukraine due to the threat of a Russian ballistic missile strike. An explosion was reported in Sumy during the alert.

Later, acting Sumy mayor Artem Kobzar confirmed that the blast was caused by a Russian strike on industrial infrastructure.

Sumy City Military Administration said there were injuries, but did not disclose the exact number.

On May 6, Russian forces also hit the outskirts of Sumy with a ballistic missile. That attack killed three people, including a child, and injured eight others. Four of them were children.
