Emergency recovery work has been completed in the Shevchenkivskyi district of Kyiv following the June 23 Russian missile strike on a residential building, which resulted in 9 deaths, the press service of the State Emergency Service (SES) of Ukraine reports.

Rescue workers operated for nearly three days non-stop, rotating shifts in order to eliminate the consequences of the tragedy as quickly as possible.

According to the SES, over 1,900 cubic meters of rubble and destroyed structures were cleared and removed from the site. Approximately 100 rescuers and 29 units of special equipment were involved in the operation.

Due to the strike, 9 people were killed, including one child. Another 13 people were injured, including a child. Rescuers managed to save 10 residents, among them two children and a pregnant woman.

Emergency crews also shared images showing the massive scale of work carried out after the missile strike on the capital.

Missile strike on Kyiv on June 23

On the night of June 23, Russian forces launched a massive attack across Ukraine, firing over 350 drones, as well as ballistic and cruise missiles. The primary target was Kyiv.

In the Shevchenkivskyi district, one of the missiles struck a five-story residential building, completely destroying one of its entrances.

According to Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko, the enemy missile pierced a residential building down to the basement.

On June 24, search-and-rescue operations at the missile strike site were officially completed.
