A Russian Su-24MR military aircraft violated Polish airspace. The incident occurred on Tuesday, February 11, at 02:09 PM over the eastern part of the Gulf of Gdańsk, according to the Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces on Twitter (X).

According to the Polish command, the incident was caused by a malfunction in the Russian aircraft's navigation system. The plane "violated Polish airspace to a maximum depth of 6.5 km and remained there for 1 minute and 12 seconds."

"The aircraft's flight was monitored by the radar systems of the Polish Armed Forces. The flight path was immediately altered following the intervention of a Russian Armed Forces navigator," the statement reads.

Polish airspace control services contacted the Russian side, which confirmed the violation of Polish airspace and reported that it occurred due to a navigation system failure on the Su-24MR aircraft.

In December 2024, it was reported that the Netherlands, along with Finland and Sweden, intercepted Russian military aircraft over the Baltic Sea.

That same month, Russian military planes were spotted in Alaska's air defense identification zone. They remained in international airspace and did not enter U.S. or Canadian sovereign airspace.

Prior to that, the United Kingdom scrambled fighter jets due to a Russian aircraft near its borders. However, the Russian plane did not violate British airspace.
