Russian military aircraft were spotted on Tuesday, December 17, in the Alaska Air Defense Identification Zone. They did not enter US or Canadian airspace, according to the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD).

According to the NORAD, the Russian aircraft were operating in the Alaskan air defense identification zone. They remained in international airspace and did not enter American or Canadian sovereign airspace.

"This Russian activity in the Alaska ADIZ occurs regularly and is not seen as a threat," the statement says.

At the same time, the Russians said that their Tu-95MS fighters were flying near Alaska. They said that the flight of the missile carriers was planned. It is also worth noting that Tu-95MSs are exactly the same aircraft that Russia uses for large-scale missile strikes on the territory of Ukraine.

Earlier, we reported that in July, American and Canadian fighters intercepted several Russian and Chinese bombers near the Alaskan coast.

In August, a US Coast Guard cutter detected a Russian vessel within the US Exclusive Economic Zone near the Aleutian Islands (Alaska).
