Russian Foreign Minister praises Trump for opposing Ukraine’s NATO bid

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that only American President Donald Trump recognized Ukraine's aspiration to join NATO as a mistake, according to Russian Telegram channels.
“Trump is the only Western leader who said that dragging Ukraine into NATO was a mistake, and this is one of the root causes,” said the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
Speaking at the Antalya Diplomatic Forum, he emphasized that eliminating the root causes of the conflict is the only way to end any conflict, including the one in Ukraine.
“We discussed bilateral relations, as well as the conditions for ending the conflict and returning Russian diplomatic property stolen by the (former US President Barack – ed.) Obama administration,” added the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
