During his trip to Russia, US special envoy Steve Witkoff met with Russian envoy for investment Kirill Dmitriev. The meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin will be later, according to Sky News and Russian TASS.

According to Russian state media, Russian envoy for investment Kirill Dmitriev met with Donald Trump's envoy Steve Vitkoff in St. Petersburg.

The media reported at first that Witkoff's meeting with Putin was in question. Kremlin spokesman said that he would announce any such meeting if the Russian leader's schedule has time for it.

Later, around 3:20 p.m. (Kyiv time), Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Putin would meet Witkoff.

According to him, the Russian leader plans to discuss options for “resolving the situation in Ukraine” with the US envoy. He noted that this is a good opportunity to convey Russia's position to Trump.

Peskov emphasized that the meeting with Witkoff would last as long as Putin needs. He added that one should not expect any breakthroughs from this meeting, because, as the spokesman put it, it is a continuation of diplomatic work between Russia and the United States.
