Russian forces try to destroy key railway hubs in Ukraine

Since July, Russian forces have launched a wave of massive attacks on Ukraine's railway infrastructure. They are trying to destroy key railway hubs, said Oleksandr Pertsovskyi, Chairman of Ukrzaliznytsia (Ukraine's state railway company).
"Shaheds are massively attacking our key stations. Examples are attacks on Lozova station, on Synelnykove station, and on Koziatyn station. That is, practically across the whole country, they strike at junction stations," Pertsovskyi said.
According to him, these are complex attacks, when power substations, locomotive depots, and passenger terminals also come under fire.
"The enemy strikes in such a way that, essentially, the junction is destroyed," noted the head of Ukrzaliznytsia.
He also praised the heroism of Ukrzaliznytsia employees, who are not afraid of repeated strikes by Russian forces, and go out and restore the infrastructure.
"Even when key junction stations are under attack, we do not cancel trains. We find possibilities for schedule changes, but we always run. And Ukrainians notice this. They thank the railway workers for such endurance," Pertsovskyi emphasized.
Attacks on railway infrastructure
On the night of September 7 in Kremenchuk, Poltava region, Russian forces struck a bridge across the Dnipro, which is part of Ukrzaliznytsia's infrastructure. It was temporarily closed. As a result, several trains were operated with restrictions or temporarily canceled.
A day earlier, Russia attacked railway infrastructure in the Donetsk region. Ukrzaliznytsia specified that the section before Sloviansk was left without power, which caused delays for several trains.
Also, on the night of September 3, Russian forces attacked the Kirovohrad region with drones. As a result of the strike, railway infrastructure was damaged.
