Russian forces actively assault positions of Ukrainian army in 2 directions in Donetsk region - General Staff

Since the start of the day, there have been 98 combat engagements at the front. The Russian forces are intensifying their assault on the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, particularly in the Pokrovsk and Toretsk directions within the Donetsk region, according to the evening report from the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Enemy shelling
The enemy shelled the Defense Forces' positions throughout the day 3,412 times. The adversary carried out two missile strikes, 59 air raids (including 54 with guided aerial bombs), and 623 attacks using kamikaze drones.
Frontline situation
In the Kharkiv direction, Russian forces made three unsuccessful attempts to storm Ukrainian positions near Tykhe and Vovchansk. Fighting continues near Vovchansk.
In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy attacked the defenders' fortifications six times. All these engagements in Andriivka, Stelmakhivka, and Pishchane have now ended.
In the Lyman direction, Russian forces launched four assaults on Ukrainian positions throughout the day near the settlements of Torske and Makiivka.
In the Siversk direction, our forces halted nine attempts by the enemy to improve their tactical position near Verkhnokamianske, Spirne, Ivanodarivka, and Vyimka. The Russian army sustained losses. Fighting continues in the Vyimka area.
In the Kramatorsk direction, five attempts by the invaders to advance near Chasiv Yar, Ivanivske, and Andriivka failed.
In the Toretsk direction, the Russian army launched 16 assaults throughout the day in Zalizne, Pivnichne, Toretsk, and New York. Enemy bomber aviation was actively engaged. Combat operations are ongoing in four locations, with the enemy pressuring and attempting to advance in the New York and Pivnichne areas.
In the Pokrovsk direction, the Russian forces carried out 43 assault and offensive actions throughout the day. The highest activity of the Russian army remains in the areas of Novooleksandrivka, Prohres, and Zhelanne. Six engagements in this direction are still ongoing.
Preliminary reports indicate that today our troops eliminated 92 and injured 135 Russian soldiers. Two vehicles and a D-30 howitzer were destroyed. Additionally, four enemy vehicles, a 2S1 Gvozdika self-propelled artillery unit, and a BM-21 Grad multiple launch rocket system were neutralized.
In the Kurakhove direction, there have been four combat engagements so far today. The Russian army unsuccessfully attempted to advance in the areas of Krasnohorivka, Paraskoviivka, and Kostiantynivka.
In the Vremivka direction, the enemy suffered a defeat in the battle near Vodiane.
In the Orikhiv direction, the adversary made two attacks near the settlements of Robotyne and Mala Tokmachka throughout the day, with no success.
In the Prydniprovsk direction, the enemy's assault on the left bank of the Dnipro River failed.
Over the past 24 hours, the Russian army lost 1,370 soldiers in the war in Ukraine. As of the morning of August 1, 156 combat engagements were recorded at the front, with one-third occurring in the Pokrovsk direction.
Last night, the Russian forces launched drone and ballistic missile attacks on Ukraine.
