Russian attack drones may have crossed the border and entered the airspace of Romania and Moldova during a massive overnight strike on Ukraine, the Ukrainian Air Force reported.

"Several Russian UAVs in the Odesa region near the border with Moldova, possible crossing of the state border," the Air Force noted.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces also reported that one Russian drone likely crossed the border into Romania.

Russian drones over Romania

On November 22, Romania scrambled a pair of F-16 fighter jets amid a Russian drone attack on the Odesa region during the night of November 22.

In addition, on the night of November 11, Romania placed its air defense systems on alert due to a massive Russian drone attack on Ukrainian Danube ports.

Radar detected a group of UAVs moving in the area adjacent to Romanian airspace. This triggered the preventive activation of air defense systems. Due to unfavorable weather conditions in the southeast of the country, Air Police fighter jets were unable to take off.

Earlier, fragments of an unidentified drone were found in Tulcea County, Romania, which borders Ukraine. Experts from the Romanian Ministry of Defense collected the drone parts for further investigation.

Earlier, on September 13, a Russian attack drone entered Romanian airspace. This incident occurred during a Russian attempt to strike Ukrainian infrastructure on the Danube.
