On March 25, Russian drones entered the airspace of the Baltic countries. One of the drones crashed into a power plant chimney in Estonia, while in Latvia, another drone exploded, and its debris was found, according to the Latvian Ministry of Defense and the outlet ERR.

Drone in Latvia

According to the country’s Ministry of Defense, an unidentified drone entered Latvia’s territory from Russia.

“Early warning systems recorded a sound similar to an explosion in the Krāslava district,” the statement said.

Representatives of the National Armed Forces, the State Police, and units of the State Border Guard worked at the scene of the incident.

Drone debris was found. Civilians were not injured, and no damage to civilian infrastructure was recorded.

The Latvian Ministry of Defense assured that there is no further threat to the safety of civilians or Latvia’s airspace. The circumstances of the incident are under investigation.

Drone in Estonia

In Estonia, another drone from Russia crashed into the smokestack of a power plant in Auvere. The incident occurred on the night of March 25 at 3:43 am. Sappers, the prosecutor’s office, and the police worked at the scene. No one was injured as a result of the incident.

Prosecutor General Astrid Asi noted that the drone was not directed at Estonia, and the exact circumstances will be determined by the investigation.

Meanwhile, the energy company said that the facility did not sustain significant damage and the incident did not affect the country’s energy system.

Drone attacks in Russia

On the night of March 25, Russia’s Leningrad region was massively attacked by drones. A fire broke out on the territory of the port of Ust-Luga.

Also tonight, drones attacked a shipbuilding plant in the city of Vyborg in Russia’s Leningrad region. A patrol icebreaker was damaged.
