Russian drone strikes block power restoration in Ukraine's Chernihiv region

Emergency crews in the Chernihiv region are unable to begin work due to continuous attacks by Russian drones, according to the Ukrainian Ministry of Energy.
The Russians are deliberately launching drones that continuously circle over damaged facilities, making it impossible to carry out work safely and deliberately prolonging the humanitarian crisis.
Due to the Russian attack, Chernihiv and the entire northern part of the region were left without power. Tens of thousands of families found themselves without electricity.
"Repair crews are on full alert to restore power to Ukrainian homes as quickly as possible. However, Russia is deliberately preventing this," the statement says.
The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine calls these actions deliberate terrorism, emphasizing that the affected facilities have no military significance.
"Against the backdrop of these barbaric actions, the Russian leadership's statements about alleged military targets look particularly false. The strike on the Chernihiv region's power grid is direct proof that Russia's real goal is the genocide of the Ukrainian people," the Ministry says.
