Russia once again shelled Kharkiv on the night of May 17. This time, the enemy damaged cars, residential buildings, and street lighting, according to a Telegram post from Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov.
According to him, Russian forces attacked the city with at least two drones overnight. One struck the Saltivskyi district near apartment buildings; fragments of a second fell in the Kyivskyi district, and a third hit the Kholodnohirskyi district.
Later, the mayor of Kharkiv provided the first details of the attack in the Saltivskyi district:
"As a result of a strike by an enemy Shahed drone, seven cars caught fire. About ten more vehicles were damaged. In nearby multi‑storey buildings, the blast wave damaged window glazing. The street lighting electrical network was also damaged," the statement said at 02:03 Kyiv time.
A little later, Terekhov wrote that the enemy struck the Kholodnohirskyi district. A fire broke out as a result of the drone attack.
