During a joint operation of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and the Ukrainian Navy an ammunition storage depot in the Rostov region, Russia, was hit. The strike was carried out using the Neptune missile, according to sources in the SBU.

On the night of January 10, SBU drones and the Neptune missile targeted an ammunition and reconnaissance drone storage depot near the village of Chaltyr in the Rostov region. According to the sources, first, the Security Service's drones overloaded the Russian air defense systems, and then the Neptune missile struck the target.

The SBU noted that Russians complained on social media all night about the sounds of flying drones and the work of Russian air defense, and reported a powerful explosion, likely caused by the Neptune strike. Later, locals reported multiple explosions near Chaltyr, indicating secondary detonations of ammunition.

"The SBU, together with the Ukrainian Navy, hit a crucial target – a depot containing reconnaissance drones used to adjust enemy strikes on Ukrainian cities and the front lines. Now, there will be fewer of these Russian "birds" in the sky. Operations against military targets in enemy territory will continue," said an informed source within the SBU.

Drone attacks on Russian territory

On the night of January 10, 2025, unknown drones attacked at least five regions in Russia, causing fires in some of them.

The Russian Ministry of Defense reported in the morning that their air defense forces allegedly downed 40 UAVs, 16 of them directly in the Rostov region.

On the night of January 8, explosions were heard in Engels, Saratov region, where a fire broke out at an oil depot. According to the regional governor, Roman Busargin, the fire was caused by debris from a downed UAV. As of the evening of January 8, it had not yet been extinguished.
