A Russian drone struck a 25-story residential building in Kyiv's Desnianskyi district, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko announced the attack on his Telegram channel.

Aftermath of the attack in Kyiv's Desnianskyi district

According to preliminary information, the enemy drone struck a high-rise residential building on the left bank of the capital.

Damage has been reported on the 16th floor.

"Emergency services are heading to the scene," Klitschko said.

Rescue operation

According to the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, a child was injured during the enemy attack in Kyiv's Desnianskyi district. Emergency workers rescued the child from the damaged apartment and handed them over to medics.

The child suffered cuts to the face as a result of the incident in the residential area.

All relevant city services and rescue teams remain at the scene, working to eliminate the consequences of the attack and inspect the surrounding area.

Massive attacks on Kyiv

Russian forces have regularly launched large-scale attacks on Ukraine's capital.

Most recently, during the night of July 8, Russia attacked Kyiv with ballistic missiles, triggering fires at warehouses and other buildings. The first explosions were reported before an official air raid alert was issued.

The missile strike caused significant damage across several districts of the city. Ukraine's State Emergency Service released photos showing the aftermath of the attack, which damaged administrative buildings and city trams and injured at least two people.

The situation remains challenging as emergency crews continue to deal with the consequences of previous strikes. Just days earlier, another major Russian attack pushed the death toll in Kyiv higher, while rescuers were still clearing debris at impact sites. The scale of the tragedy led city authorities to declare a Day of Mourning.
