Russian drone flies close to Rivne Nuclear Power Plant
Russian Shahed flew at a critically low altitude near the Rivne Nuclear Power Plant on September 25. Such flights have already been recorded near Khmelnytskyi Nuclear Power Plant, according to Ukrainian energy company Energoatom.
“On the night of September 25, another flight of a Russian attack drone was recorded at a critically low altitude near the industrial site of the Rivne NPP,” the statement says.
According to the company, once again Russian troops pose a threat to the nuclear safety of Ukrainian NPPs.
“Energoatom informs the relevant institutions about each such fact because no one has the right to violate the principles of nuclear and radiation safety,” the press service states.
Russian threats to nuclear power plants in Ukraine
In recent weeks, Russia has been constantly creating dangerous situations with the flight of drones over nuclear power plants in Ukraine. Such cases have already been recorded twice near Khmelnytskyi NPP. The Russian drones flew close to the plant during the attacks on September 12 and 20.
Earlier, Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha warned that Russia was preparing strikes on Ukraine's nuclear energy facilities before winter. It is about equipment important for the safety of the plants.
After that, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that Russia was using Chinese satellites to take pictures of nuclear power plants in Ukraine. According to him, this is probably done in preparation for possible strikes.
