A Russian drone once again entered Romanian territory during an attack on Ukraine on the night of April 17, according to Romania’s Ministry of Defense.
The country’s National Military Command Center notified the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations to alert the population in the northern part of Tulcea County.
Romania’s air defense systems detected two aerial targets that appeared in the border area.
One of them entered Romanian airspace, but radar contact with it was lost 16 kilometers southeast of the commune of Chilia Veche, over an uninhabited area.
“The Ministry of National Defense team is ready to depart this morning on a research mission in the area. We strongly condemn the actions of the Russian Federation, which endanger regional security and constitute a serious violation of international law,” the ministry said.
Romania’s Ministry of Defense added that it is coordinating actions with responsible allied and national services and is ready to take the necessary measures to protect Romania’s territory and population.

Hits by a ballistic missile and 20 strike drones were recorded at 8 locations, as well as the downed targets (debris) at 4 locations.
This night, Russian troops once again attacked critical infrastructure in the Chernihiv region. The strike hit Chernihiv energy facilities.
An energy facility was damaged, leaving more than 6,000 consumers in the city and the region without electricity. Hits were also recorded on a number of infrastructure facilities.
A fire also broke out on the territory of the Danube Biosphere Reserve due to an attack on the Odesa region.
