Russia's losses in Ukraine as of August 26: +1,450 troops and 74 artillery systems

Russian forces continue to incur heavy losses as the war in Ukraine grinds on. According to Ukraine's military report, the latest daily toll includes both personnel and a wide range of military equipment.
The total Russian combat losses from February 24, 2022, to August 26, 2026 are estimated to be:
- Personnel - nearly 1,480,750 (+1,450)
- Tanks ‒ 12,300 (+7)
- Armored fighting vehicles ‒ 25,230 (+10)
- Special equipment ‒ 4,592 (+10)
- Vehicles and fuel tanks ‒ 139,754 (+533)
- Unmanned ground vehicles ‒ 2,387 (+9)
- Artillery systems ‒ 48,641 (+74)
- MLRS ‒ 2,062 (+4)
- Air defense assets ‒ 1,588 (+1)
- Aircraft ‒ 440
- Helicopters ‒ 354

Frontline situation
Russian forces continued offensive operations across several sectors on August 23–24, including near Kharkiv, Velykyi Burluk, Kupiansk and Borova. However, Ukrainian counterattacks and defensive positions halted their advance, with no confirmed Russian gains reported.
Meanwhile, throughout August 24 and during the night of August 25, Ukrainian forces struck several Russian military targets in occupied territories and Russia, including electronic warfare systems, fuel and ammunition depots, logistics warehouses and a MiG-29 fighter jet at the Millerovo airfield.
