Russian drone attack on Ukrainian city Cherkasy: Homes destroyed, fires break out

"Air defense forces and assets were operating in the region, along with our mobile fire groups. They neutralized 15 hostile targets. However, Russian hardware caused significant damage, particularly in our regional center," the head of the Regional Military Administration said.

According to Taburets, four people sought medical assistance as a result of the attack. They sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were hospitalized.

In the regional center, falling drones caused a fire in a residential area. Preliminary reports indicate that two houses were destroyed, neighboring buildings were damaged, and cars were burned.

Debris and the blast wave also damaged buildings belonging to three private enterprises and a vehicle cooperative.

Attacks on Cherkasy

Overnight, Russia carried out a massive attack on Cherkasy and the surrounding region. A series of explosions was heard in the city and nearby areas.

The enemy has repeatedly carried out strikes using drones and other means of attack against the regional center.

In particular, in December, Russian forces attempted to strike a cemetery, resulting in damage to monuments and the Alley of Heroes (a memorial dedicated to fallen Ukrainian defenders).

Earlier the same month, Russian forces struck critical infrastructure with drones, causing power outages in parts of the city.

In addition, at least a dozen residential buildings and six people were affected during the attack.
