Russian drone attack hits southern Odesa region, several injured

Russian forces launched a massive overnight attack on the southern part of Ukraine's Odesa region on May 16 using strike drones. Residential and port infrastructure was damaged, and there are injured victims, according to Odesa Regional Military Administration head Oleh Kiper.
As a result of the attack, a drone hit a five-story residential building. The facade and windows were damaged, balconies caught fire, as well as an auto dealership on the ground floor.
In addition, a single-story residential building was damaged, and two people were injured.
Port infrastructure was also affected — a warehouse and an administrative building were damaged, with windows shattered at the facilities.

In addition, debris from the drones was recorded falling onto the grounds of an educational institution.
Emergency and utility services are working at the scene. Residents of damaged buildings are receiving assistance, and cleanup operations are ongoing.
Law enforcement agencies are documenting another series of Russian war crimes against the civilian population.
Attacks on Ukraine
Recall that on the morning of May 16, an enemy drone struck the central part of Kharkiv in the Shevchenkivskyi district. Two metro exits, the city's electric transport contact network, a trolleybus, and a public transport stop were damaged. One person was injured.
On May 15, Russian forces attacked a suburban passenger train in the Zaporizhzhia region with a kamikaze drone. The drone hit near one of the carriages, injuring two passengers.
In addition, on the night of May 15, the enemy carried out a combined missile and drone strike on the Odesa region. The attack caused injuries and damage in residential areas.
The Ukrainian Air Force reported that overnight Russia launched six missiles and 141 strike drones from various directions across Ukraine. Ukrainian air defenses destroyed most of the targets, but hits were recorded in several regions.
