Russian attack sparks massive fires in Sumy, leaving casualties

On Sunday evening, August 16, Russian forces launched a massive drone attack on Sumy. As a result of the shelling, large-scale fires broke out and one person was injured, according to a Telegram post by the head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, Oleh Hryhorov.
According to him, the enemy preliminarily used jet-type drones in the attack.
"There were strikes in the residential sector and on civilian infrastructure facilities. Large-scale fires broke out at the impact sites," the statement read.
A little later, the head of the Sumy City Military Administration, Serhii Kryvosheienko, clarified that the attack took place in the Zarichnyi district of Sumy. As a result of the enemy attack, one person was injured, and a significant number of houses were damaged.
Attacks on Sumy
Russian units regularly attack Sumy, using drones and aerial bombs for their strikes. On August 11, the enemy struck the city with four guided aerial bombs, damaging more than 20 private houses and civilian infrastructure facilities.
Russian forces attacked Sumy with guided bombs on the night of August 10. At that time, the enemy damaged multi-story and private buildings, civilian vehicles, and non-residential premises. There were also casualties.
