Russian attack on Kyiv: 7 dead, people trapped under rubble at Okhmatdyt hospital
Seven people have been killed in today's missile attack on Kyiv. There may be more people under the rubble in the Okhmatdyt children's hospital, according to the Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko.
"At the moment, we know about seven dead. Emergency work continues right here at the Okhmatdyt children's hospital. Volunteers, medical staff, police, and rescuers are dismantling the buildings. The National Guard will also be there to quickly dismantle the rubble and rescue people who may be trapped there," Klymenko said.
According to the minister, rescuers currently have three hours of the so-called golden time to save those who may be trapped in the rubble of the hospital. One more person has been rescued before.
"Now we are waiting for heavy equipment that will lift the slabs after manually dismantling the rubble to see and do everything possible to save people," he added.
As of now, 25 people have been reported injured in Kyiv.
Consequences of massive shelling
According to Klymenko, Russians also shelled Dnipro, Kryvyi Rih, and the Donetsk region. About 20 people were killed in the shelling, 50 people were injured.
"Rescuers, police officers, dog handlers, explosive experts, psychologists - all our services with engineering equipment will work continuously until the search and rescue operations are completed. We are already setting up psychological aid stations and teams of investigators are working to record these crimes. Anyone who needs help can contact any employee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs," added the minister.
Missile attack on Kyiv
At around 9:50 a.m., a large-scale air raid alert was sounded in Ukraine for the second time in 24 hours. After the missiles were launched, explosions were first heard in the Kropyvnytskyi district and Kryvyi Rih. Later, it was reported that air defense systems in the Kyiv region and Kyiv were also activated.
In Kyiv, debris fell in several districts. Russia also attacked the Okhmatdyt children's hospital.
