Today, on July 8, the Russian military fired rockets for the second time. Debris fell in several districts of Kyiv.

Air defense operations in Kyiv and the region

At 10:14 a.m., the Kyiv Regional Military Administration (KRMA) announced the operation of air defense in the region. Civilians were urged to stay in shelters.

Later, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said that air defense was also operating in the suburbs of Kyiv.

First explosions were heard in Kyiv

RBC-Ukraine correspondents reported a series of explosions in Kyiv. Klitschko said medics were called to the Solomianskyi district.

A short time later, the Kyiv City Military Administration (KCMA) reported that debris had fallen in the Solomianskyi district of the capital. Information on the damage and casualties was being updated.

Debris fell in several districts

According to the KCMA, debris fell in the following districts:

  • Solomianskyi;
  • Dniprovskyi;
  • Holosiivskyi.

"Preliminary, there is a fire. Information about the damage and casualties is being clarified. Stay in the shelters until the end of the attack," adds the KCMA.

Casualties, destruction in some areas

As of 11:04 a.m., debris has fallen in:

  • Solomianskyi;
  • Dniprovskyi;
  • Darnytskyi;
  • Desnianskyi;
  • Shevchenkivskyi;
  • Holosiivskyi districts.

According to preliminary data:

  • in the Solomianskyi district - damage to an office building;
  • in the Holosiivskyi district - debris fell near a residential building;
  • in the Dniprovskyi district - debris is burning in a residential area.
  • in the Darnytskyi district - a private house was damaged;
  • in the Desnianskyi district - a house is on fire.

"All emergency services are working at the scene. As of now, we know about one victim, the injuries are not critical to life. The information is being clarified," the KCMA wrote.

Hit at a building of a children's medical institution

"One of the premises of a children's medical institution was hit," Klitschko wrote.

Number of wounded is increasing

According to Klitschko, there are currently three victims. One of them was hospitalized, and the other two were treated on the spot.

"We are checking the information about one dead," the mayor said.

Okhmatdyt children's hospital damaged

As of 11:24 a.m., the following is known:

  • in the Solomianskyi district - an office building was damaged;
  • in the Holosiivskyi district - garages are damaged, cars are burning;
  • in the Dniprovskyi district - debris is burning in a residential building;
  • in the Darnytskyi district - a private house was damaged;
  • in the Sviatoshynskyi district - debris is burning near a residential building; a fire broke out on the premises of an enterprise;
  • in the Desnianskyi district - a house on fire;
  • in the Shevchenkivskyi district, the children's hospital Okhmatdyt was damaged, there is a destruction.

Death toll

KCMA reports:

  • 3 dead;
  • 9 injured.

According to Klitschko, six of the injured were hospitalized.

Rocket attack on the night of July 8

On the night of July 8, the enemy attacked Ukraine:

  • 4 Kh-101 missiles;
  • 2 Iskander-M ballistic missiles.

Air defense managed to destroy 3 Kh-101s in the Zhytomyr and Cherkasy regions.

Massive shelling in the morning of July 8

The second large-scale air raid alarm sounded at around 9:50 a.m.The Air Force announced the threat of ballistic weapons. After a while, the first explosions were heard in Kropyvnytskyi district and Kryvyi Rih. Some of the missiles changed their direction towards the Kyiv region.
