417,000 households in Kyiv are temporarily without power. Energy workers are prioritizing the restoration of power to the capital's critical infrastructure, according to energy company DTEK.
"Parts of residents in the Desnianskyi, Dniprovskyi, Darnytskyi, and Holosiivskyi districts of Kyiv are without power. Energy workers are working continuously at sites. Our top priority is restoring power to the capital's critical infrastructure," the statement says.
DTEK stressed that the damage to the power grid is significant and that repairs are further complicated by strong gusty winds and freezing temperatures.
Attack on Kyiv and power outages
Overnight, the Russian army launched missile and drone strikes on Ukraine's critical infrastructure. The attack was mainly directed at the Kyiv region, with Kyiv city targeted by missiles and drones from multiple directions.
The enemy strike on Kyiv injured 25 people and killed four. Significant destruction is recorded in the capital, including damage to the building of one of the embassies.
In the morning, emergency power outages were introduced in left-bank Kyiv, while scheduled rolling outages continue on the right bank.
In the Kyiv region, 370,000 households were left without power due to severe weather and Russian attacks. The most difficult situations are in the Boryspil and Brovary districts.
DTEK reported that since yesterday, energy workers have been addressing the aftermath of severe weather in the Kyiv region. Electricity has been restored to nearly 60,000 households during this time.
