As a result of the Russian attack on Kyiv on January 9, at least 25 people were injured, and four more were killed. Significant damage was recorded in the capital, including damage to the building of one of the foreign embassies, according to the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office.

Among the killed are three residents of a residential complex in the Dniprovskyi district of Kyiv. Another victim was a 58-year-old emergency medical worker who arrived to assist victims in the Darnytskyi district.

Among the injured are medical workers, rescuers, and a police officer.

The prosecutor's office specified that this data is as of 8 a.m. Kyiv time.

The consequences of the Russian attack were recorded in several districts of Kyiv simultaneously: Darnytskyi, Dniprovskyi, Desnianskyi, Pecherskyi, Shevchenkivskyi, Holosiivskyi, and Sviatoshynskyi.

In total, 19 high-rise residential buildings, the building of one of the embassies, and windows in a kindergarten were damaged.

A tram depot, an unfinished high-rise building, cars, a supermarket, and a gas station were also damaged.

The final number of victims is currently being determined. Rescuers and law enforcement officers are working at the sites of the strikes, documenting yet another Russian war crime.

Prosecutors have launched a pre-trial investigation into the commission of a war crime by Russian military personnel, which led to the death of people (Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The Prosecutor's Office also showed footage of the aftermath of the Russian attack on Kyiv.

Russian strike on Kyiv

On the night of October 9, Russian occupiers launched drones, ballistic missiles, and cruise missiles at Kyiv. Against the backdrop of several waves of attacks, loud explosions rocked the capital for several hours.

As a result of the Russian strikes, residential buildings, a kindergarten, garage cooperatives, and many other facilities in the city were damaged. In addition, there were interruptions in the electricity, heat, and water supply.

Local authorities reported that it was impossible to get from one bank of the river to the other in the capital. In particular, this concerns the “red” metro line. The reason is a lack of power supply.

It was also reported that emergency power cuts were introduced on the left bank of Kyiv in the morning. At the same time, power schedules continue to operate on the right bank.
