Russian strikes on Ukraine's energy sector
Yesterday, October 17, Russian forces attacked energy facilities in four regions of Ukraine. Emergency repair work has already begun and continues around the clock.
Due to damage to the energy system from multiple Russian attacks, emergency power outages were introduced in several regions yesterday morning under the orders of Ukrenergo.
Emergency electricity restrictions were also implemented in several regions. In Chernihiv, hourly power outage schedules are in effect as a result of systematic enemy attacks on the region’s energy infrastructure.
This affected Kyiv, Sumy, Poltava, Dnipropetrovsk, and Kirovohrad regions. However, during the day, energy companies lifted emergency outages in Kyiv and Kyiv region.
It is also reported that last night, Ukrenergo ordered emergency power outages across the entire territory of Ukraine.
