On the evening of July 25, Russian forces struck the center of Kharkiv with a Chernika drone, according to the Telegram channel of Kharkiv’s mayor, Ihor Terekhov.
"Chernika UAV strike on the central part of Kharkiv in the Kyiv district. Residential buildings surround the area. Consequences are being clarified," reported Terekhov.
Later, he specified that the drone hit the road. Nearby are residential buildings and a medical facility.
"An apartment building was damaged. Information about casualties is being clarified," the mayor added.
Chernika drone
Russia began using Chernika drones to strike Kharkiv in June of this year.
It is known that there are two versions of these UAVs — the lighter Chernika-1 and the heavier Chernika-2.
The first variant is used against infantry and vehicles, while the second carries up to 3.5 kg of explosives, is capable of hitting fortifications and equipment, can fly up to 100 km, and is equipped with an autopilot, which makes its interception more difficult.
According to Defense Express, the drone is made from inexpensive materials, is launched by hand or from a catapult, and is produced in mass quantities — thousands of units.
Attacks on Kharkiv
Today, July 25, Russian forces struck Kharkiv with a guided aerial bomb. The strike was on a medical facility.
Later, it became known that the Russian forces attacked a tuberculosis dispensary. As a result of the strike, the third floor and the building’s ceiling were destroyed.
According to the latest data, there are 17 injured civilians from the attack, as well as one fatality.

Yesterday, July 24, during the daytime, the Russian army also struck the central part of Kharkiv with aerial bombs. There were several hits: on a civilian enterprise and near a multi-storey building. Forty-two people were injured.
Also yesterday, Russian troops attacked Kharkiv with a Chernika strike drone. The enemy targeted a private residential area.
In the Industrial district of the city, as a result of the drone attack, private property and garages were damaged, and windows were shattered. The strike also affected power lines.
