Russian army preparing to intensify assaults in Zaporizhzhia direction - Armed Forces of Ukraine
Russian forces are preparing to intensify assault operations in the Zaporizhzhia direction, gathering personnel and vehicle equipment, as stated by the spokesperson for the Southern Defense Forces, Vladyslav Voloshyn.
"There is a trend indicating that the situation in the Zaporizhzhia region, particularly along this section of the demarcation line, will escalate. In the past day, there have already been five assaults, and the trend suggests an increase in their number. According to our intelligence, the enemy is gathering assault personnel in the area of Pryiutne," said Voloshyn.
He added that Russian forces have received 25 light buggy vehicles from a reserve storage base in the Southern Military District of Russia, indicating preparations for assault operations.
The spokesperson also noted that the situation in the southern direction is just as tense as in other sectors of the front. Currently, the Russian troops are conducting reconnaissance by combat, using assault groups of 5 to 10 people.
"Their tactic is to cover the distance between trenches as quickly as possible and fortify themselves in our trenches," Voloshyn added.
According to him, the Russian forces are not experiencing a shortage of shells. The number of munitions used remains consistent—up to 2,000 shells daily. In the past day, over 350 FPV drones were deployed.
"So, to say they are facing some kind of shell shortage or are conserving munitions would not be accurate. All types of weaponry available to Russian units in this region are being used, including aerial bombs and missiles," Voloshyn stated.
Situation on the front
According to the General Staff, during the past day, on September 25, there were 189 battles along the line of combat engagement. The enemy attacked the most in the Pokrovsk and Kurakhove directions.
According to the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW), Ukrainian defenders continued to regain positions in Vovchansk as part of counteroffensive actions. Russian invaders launched attacks near Kreminna, Toretsk, and Pokrovsk, and advanced within and around Vuhledar.
