Russian army general shot in Moscow: Early details from local media

Today, February 6, an assassination attempt was carried out in Moscow against Lieutenant General Vladimir Alekseyev of the Russian Ministry of Defense. An unknown assailant fired several shots at his back and then fled the scene, Russian media reported.

According to available information, the attack occurred near a residential building on Volokolamskoye Highway, where the general of the Russian army lives. The gunman waited for Alekseyev near the building entrance and opened fire when he appeared.
The wounded lieutenant general was hospitalized at one of Moscow's hospitals. Details about his condition have not been disclosed.
Law enforcement authorities have opened a criminal case under the articles of attempted murder and illegal trafficking of firearms. The attacker is being sought.

An improvised explosive device was planted under the chassis of a Kia Sorento parked in the courtyard of a residential building. Sarvarov was initially hospitalized in critical condition but later died.
Earlier, in Russia's Kemerovo region, a car carrying police Lieutenant Colonel Veniamin Mazzerin, commander of the OMON special unit Obereg of the Russian National Guard, was blown up.
He was one of the war criminals involved in mass killings, torture, and crimes against civilians in Bucha, Kyiv region.
