Russian airlines to stop working with UN by April
Russian airlines have almost lost all contracts with UN peacekeeping and political missions.
According to a Russian media outlet, the Russian Foreign Ministry confirmed that the companies will leave the UN market in the first quarter of 2024.
The organization stopped signing new contracts after the International Civil Aviation Organization issued a "red flag" to Russia for double registration of aircraft.
"The problem of non-renewal of contracts for the provision of aircraft by Russian companies for the needs of the UN is systemic. After the ICAO approved the decision on the existence of "serious safety concerns" regarding Russia, the UN Secretariat, based solely on its own interpretation of the SSC, restricted the participation of Russian companies in new tenders for the supply of aviation services in the interests of the world Organization," explained Maria Zakharova, a representative of the Ministry.
Exclusion of Russia
Last year, the UN began to cleanse itself of Russia's malign influence. For the first time in history, the organization did not elect Russia to the International Court of Justice.
Also, for the first time in history, Russia was expelled from the UNESCO Executive Board.
In addition, Russia was expelled from the Council of Europe and the UN Human Rights Council.
Veronika Shchiptsova, the head of the Miss Ukraine Organizing Committee, said that Russia would not participate in the main international beauty pageant, Miss World.
