Russia uses AI for disinformation against Ukraine - Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Russia is leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance its misinformation campaigns against Ukraine, marking a new priority for its propaganda centers, states Ukraine's deputy foreign minister Anton Demokhin.
"This year, we see the density of cyber attacks (from Russia) continue, but there is more of an accent on disinformation," he said.
"Now that generative AI came in, that allows disinformation narratives to be multiplied and distributed on a new more complex level," the deputy minister noted.
According to him, these new disinformation campaigns are difficult to detect, as false information is actively spread on social media platforms to enhance their credibility.
In August, Ukrainian officials informed the agency that many Ukrainians are experiencing online disinformation from the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) and military intelligence.
As previously reported, representatives of US President Joe Biden's administration discussed restrictions on the sale of advanced artificial intelligence chips from Nvidia Corp. and other American companies to certain countries.
In just a month, on November 5, presidential elections will take place in the US. Russia, Iran, and China are expected to potentially use artificial intelligence to influence the outcome.
