Russia-Ukraine war: situation on the front as of August 5

According to the Ukrainian Armed Forces General Staff, Ukrainian Defense Forces are conducting offensive operations in the Melitopol and Berdyansk sectors. Over the past 24 hours, more than 30 combat engagements have taken place.
Frontline situation
In the Volyn and Polissia directions, the operational situation remains relatively stable with no significant changes.
In the Siversk and Slobozhanske directions, the enemy launched air strikes in the vicinities of Odnorobivka, Strilecha, and Hatyshche (Kharkiv region). They also carried out mortar and artillery shelling on more than 30 populated areas, including Buchky, Hremiach, and Vesele in Chernihiv region; Seredyna-Buda, Bobilivka, Studenok, Myropillia, and Hrabovske in Sumy region; and Karaiche, Budarky, and Zemlianky in the Kharkiv region.
In the Kupiansk direction, the Ukrainian troops are standing their ground, successfully repelled adversary attacks in the vicinities of Vilshana and Synkivka (Kharkiv region). The enemy launched air strikes in the vicinities of Kyslivka and Krokhmalne (Kharkiv region). The invaders fired artillery and mortars at more than 10x settlements, including Fyholivka, Dvorichna, Zapadne, Kupyans’k, Kyslivka and Berestove (Kharkiv region).
In the Lyman direction, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensive operations in the vicinities of Bilohorivka (Luhansk region), conducted air strikes near Nevske, Bilohorivka (Luhansk region), Torske, Serebryanka, Dibrova, and Spirne (Donetsk region). The adversary fired artillery at the settlements of Kuzmye, Bilohorivka, Torske, Verkhnokamyanske, Spirne, and Rozdolivka.
In the Bakhmut direction, the Ukrainian defense forces are holding back the adversary in the vicinity of Kurdyumivka. The enemy launched air strikes in the vicinities of Khromove, Klishchiivka, Stupochky, Dyliivka, Oleksandro-Shultyne, and New York (Donetsk region). More than 15 settlements suffered from enemy artillery shelling, including Tykhonivka, Chasiv Yar, Klishchiivka, Bila Hora, Predtechyne, and Piviche (Donetsk region).
In the Avdiivka direction, under heavy fire from enemy aircraft and artillery, the Ukrainian defenders successfully repelled the attacks of russian troops near Avdiivka. The enemy launched air strikes in the vicinity of Novokalynove (Donetsk region). More than 10 settlements came under artillery fire, including Orlivka, Stepove, Avdiivka, Vodyane, Pervomaiske, and Nevelske (Donetsk region).
In the Maryinka direction, Ukrainian defense forces continue to hold back the russian troops’ offensive in the vicinity of Maryinka. The enemy shelled more than 10 settlements, including Krasnohorivka, Maryinka, Pobeda, Herhiivka, Novomykhailivka, and Kostyantynivka (Donetsk region).
In the Shakhtarsk direction, the enemy made unsuccessful attempts to regain the lost position in the vicinity of Staromaiors’ke. Russian forces launched air strikes in the vicinities of Pavlivka, Zolota Nyva, and Staromaiorske (Donetsk region). Artillery shelling reported in Vuhledar, Prechystivka, Zolota Nyva, Blahodatne, Staromaiorske (Donetsk region), and Levadne (Zaporizhzhia region).
In the Zaporizhzhia direction, the enemy launched air strikes, and conducted unsuccessful offensive operations in the vicinity of Robotyne (Zaporizhzhia region). The adversary is focusing its main efforts on preventing further advance of Ukrainian troops. More than 15 settlements came under artillery fire, including Shcherbaky, Mali Shcherbaky, Pyatykhatky, Stepnohirsk, Chervonodniprovka (Zaporizhzhia region).
In the Kherson direction, the enemy’s artillery shelled more than 20 settlements, including Ivanivka, Dniprovs’ke, Bilozerka, Kizomys, Kherson (Kherson region), and Ochakiv (Mykolaiv region).
Simultaneously, the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue their offensive operations in the Melitopol and Berdyansk directions. They consolidate their positions, while also conducting counter-battery measures.
Enemy losses
During the previous, Ukrainian defense aviation executed 7 strikes on enemy personnel concentration areas.
Missile troops and artillery units struck 2 command posts, 5 personnel concentration areas, weaponry, military equipment, 4 artillery systems in firing positions, 5 ammunition depots, and one radio-electronic warfare station of the occupant forces.
