Ukrainian Defense Forces are actively holding back the advance of Russian occupiers on several fronts. There have been 68 combat engagements, with artillery and air strikes hitting communities in the Sumy and Chernihiv regions, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
As of 4 p.m. Kyiv time on January 10, 2026, Ukrainian defenders are resisting attacks by Russian invaders.
The most severe spots remain the South-Slobozhanskyi, Kupiansk, Lyman, and Pokrovsk directions, where numerous clashes and shelling have been recorded.
In the North-Slobozhanskyi and Kursk directions, there were two clashes. Russia carried out two air strikes, dropped five guided bombs, and carried out 61 shellings, seven of which were with MLRS.
In the South-Slobozhanskyi direction, 5 Russian attacks were repelled near Vovchansk, Hrafske, and Vilcha.
In the Kupiansk direction, Russians are trying to advance towards Kupiansk and its surroundings. 3 Russian attacks have been repelled, and 3 clashes are ongoing.
In the Lyman direction, 3 Russian attacks were recorded on the positions of Ukrainian troops in the area of Drobysheve, Serednie, and Novoselivka.
In the Pokrovsk direction, Russian troops conducted 23 attempts to advance, and Ukrainian defenders have already repelled 22 Russian attacks.
Russians also attacked in the Kostiantynivka (9 attacks on positions), Oleksandrivka (6 assaults), Huliaipole (11 clashes), Prydniprovskyi, and Orikhiv directions.
Russia struck Ryzhivka, Iskryskivshchyna, Rohizne, Volfyne (Sumy region), Karpovychi (Chernihiv region), Novoukrainka, and Shevchenko (guided aerial bomb strikes).
Ukrainian troops continue to effectively hold the line of defense and restrain the Russian troops, preventing them from advancing in strategically important directions.
Over the past few months, the intensity of Russian strikes and combat clashes has increased, especially in the South-Slobozhanskyi and Pokrovsk directions.
Previous reports from the Operational Command recorded similar dynamics. Russia is actively trying to break through the defenses of the Ukrainian troops, but with the support of artillery and aviation, the Ukrainian Defense Forces are maintaining control over key positions.
As of January 10, Russian troops are attacking in almost all directions, most intensely in Pokrovsk.
Since the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Russia has lost approximately 1,217,810 military personnel. Over the past day, Russia's total losses amounted to 880 troops.
Ukrainian defenders also destroyed 4 Russian tanks, 16 artillery systems, a multiple launch rocket system, 653 drones, 18 missiles, 84 vehicles, and 2 pieces of special equipment.
