As of 10:00 PM Kyiv time on June 16, a total of 136 combat engagements took place along the front line throughout the day. The heaviest fighting occurred in the directions of Pokrovsk, Novopavlivka, and Toretsk, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Russian forces' attacks

Russian forces launched one missile strike and 45 airstrikes, using four missiles and dropping 81 guided aerial bombs. They also deployed 1,157 kamikaze drones and carried out 3,927 attacks on Ukrainian military positions and populated areas.

In the North-Slobozhanske and Kursk directions, Ukrainian forces repelled 31 assaults. Russian forces carried out 12 airstrikes, dropping 27 guided bombs, and launched 213 artillery strikes.

Frontline updates

In the South-Slobozhanske direction, Russian forces launched three assaults near Dovhenke and Kamyanka.

In the Kupiansk direction, assaults were attempted near Stepova Novoselivka, Zahryzove, and toward Holubivka and Petropavlivka. Ukrainian defenders repelled four attacks.

In the Lyman direction, two attacks were launched near Kopanky and Nadiia.

In the Siversk direction, Russian forces attempted to advance near Hryhorivka but were repelled.

In the Kramatorsk direction, ten assaults were carried out near Chasiv Yar, Kurdiumivka, Orikhovo-Vasylivka, and toward Bila Hora. Two engagements are ongoing.

In the Toretsk direction, Russian forces launched 16 assaults near Toretsk, Dyliivka, and toward Shcherbynivka, Rusyn Yar, and Yablunivka. Fifteen attacks were repelled; one engagement continues.

In the Pokrovsk direction, there were 42 enemy attempts to advance from the start of the day. Attacks were recorded near Popiv Yar, Myroliubivka, Shevchenko Pershe, Promin, Udachne, Novosergiivka, Orikhove, Kotliarivka, Novopavlivka, Andriivka, and Oleksiivka. Three clashes are still ongoing.

Preliminary data indicates that 221 Russian personnel were neutralized in this direction today, including 144 killed. Ukrainian forces also destroyed an armored combat vehicle, six vehicles, a buggy, five motorcycles, a quad bike, two drones, two satellite terminals, a personnel shelter, and a drone control antenna; one vehicle and one motorcycle were damaged.

In the Novopavlivka direction, Russian forces attempted 22 assaults near Novosilka, Vilne Pole, Bahatyr, Burlatske, and toward Zaporizhzhia and Shevchenko. Two engagements are ongoing. Airstrikes targeted Maliivka and Berezove.

In the Hulyaipole direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled two assaults near Malynivka.

In the Orikhiv direction, one attack occurred near Nesterianka. Novoselivka was hit by an airstrike.

In the Prydniprovskyi direction, Ukrainian forces repelled an assault near the Antonivskyi Bridge.

In other directions, the situation remains unchanged.

Russian losses and new direction

Earlier, the General Staff reported that as of June 16, Russian losses amounted to 1,200 personnel, 18 artillery systems, and a significant amount of equipment.

It was also reported that a new front has emerged, the North-Slobozhanske direction, where numerous engagements occurred and Russian forces carried out airstrikes and artillery shelling.
