Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of June 5

Since the start of the day, 189 combat engagements have taken place along the entire front line. Ukraine’s Defense Forces continue to hold back the enemy, reports the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The Russian forces carried out one missile strike and 33 airstrikes, deploying a single missile and 44 guided aerial bombs. In addition, they sent 1,266 kamikaze drones against our positions and shelled our troops’ stations and populated areas 4,511 times.
Frontline situation
In the Kharkiv direction, the enemy made three attempts to advance near Vovchansk and toward Dovhenke but was repelled each time.
In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy attacked our defensive positions near the settlements of Zapadne, Petropavlivka, Zahryzove, and toward Holubivka. Ukrainian defenders successfully repelled four enemy assaults, with one battle still ongoing.
In the Lyman direction, Russian forces launched 20 attacks throughout the day on Ukrainian positions near Hrekivka, Novyi Myr, Ridkodub, Karpivka, Zelena Dolyna, Lypove, Torske, and toward Hryhorivka. Five more clashes are still in progress.
In the Siversk direction, there have been three combat engagements near Verkhniokamianske since the beginning of the day. All enemy attempts to advance were successfully pushed back by our defenders.
In the Kramatorsk direction, the Defense Forces successfully stopped five enemy assaults near Chasiv Yar, Kurdiumivka, and toward Predtechyne and Bila Hora. Two clashes are still ongoing.
In the Toretsk direction, Russian forces launched 18 attacks on Defense Forces' positions, concentrating their efforts near the settlements of Diliivka, Toretsk, Nelypivka, Shcherbynivka, and in the direction of Oleksandro-Kalynove, Yablunivka, and Rusyn Yar. Our defenders successfully repelled all enemy attempts to advance.
In the Pokrovsk direction, Russian units tried to break through our defenses near the settlements of Poltavka, Myroliubivka, Malynivka, Yelyzavetivka, Lysivka, Zvirove, Udachne, Kotlyne, Novosergiyivka, Novooleksandrivka, Orikhove, Novoukrainka, Andriivka, and toward Pokrovsk and Oleksiivka. The Defense Forces are holding the line and have repelled 46 enemy attacks so far, with five clashes still underway.
In the Novopavlivka direction, the enemy launched 24 attacks on our positions near the settlements of Bahatyr, Kostiantynopil, Rivnopil, Novosilka, Zelene Pole, and toward Oleksiivka and Komar. Three attacks are still ongoing.
In the Huliaipole direction, the enemy made eight unsuccessful attempts to break through our defenses near Malynivka.
In the Orikhiv direction, the Russian army carried out four failed assaults on our positions near Stepove, Mali Shcherbaky, and toward Novoandriivka.
In the Kursk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled 14 enemy attacks. The enemy also carried out four airstrikes, dropping six guided bombs, and launched 162 artillery strikes on our positions and populated areas, including four strikes using multiple rocket launch systems.
Enemy losses
In the Pokrovsk direction, Ukrainian troops have taken out 171 enemy personnel today, with 121 confirmed killed in action. They also destroyed six vehicles, six drones, 17 motorcycles, and two UAV command centers. Additionally, one mortar and one artillery gun were damaged.
Earlier, it was reported that since the beginning of 2025, the Russian army has lost 200,000 troops in its war against Ukraine.
In May alone, the Armed Forces of Ukraine struck nearly 1,400 of the enemy’s artillery systems.
