Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of June 4

Intense fighting continues throughout the day in ten sectors of the front. Russian forces are trying to break through Ukrainian defenses, but the Ukrainian Defense Forces are putting up strong resistance, reports the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (ZSU).
In the past 24 hours, 178 combat clashes were recorded along the front. Russian forces have significantly increased the intensity of their attacks — the Armed Forces report 6,111 shellings, including 77 airstrikes, 90 rocket artillery attacks (MLRS), and 3,669 kamikaze drone strikes.
Strikes on settlements
Airstrikes targeted areas including the settlements of Osoivka and Velykyi Prykil (Sumy region), Koptieve, Myrnohrad, Sukhyi Yar, Novomykhailivka (Donetsk region), Huliaipole, Mali Shcherbaky, and Kamianske (Zaporizhzhia region).
ZSU response
The aviation, artillery, and missile units of the Defense Forces struck the following:
- 2 UAV control points
- 8 artillery systems
- 9 enemy troop concentration areas
- 1 ammunition depot
Situation by directions
Kharkiv direction – 5 clashes near Vovchansk, Kamianka, and Vovchanski Khutory settlements.
Kupiansk direction – 4 enemy attacks were repelled near the villages of Zahryzove, Pishchane, Nova Kruhliakivka, and Stepova Novoselivka.
Lyman direction – 19 attacks near Kolodiazi, Zelena Dolyna, Torske, and toward Hlushchenkove, Serednie, Vovchyi Yar, Olhivka, Cherneshchyna, Karpivka, and Novyi Myr villages.
Siversk direction – 3 attacks near Hryhorivka.
Kramatorsk direction – 6 assaults were repelled near Chasiv Yar and Bila Hora.
Toretsk direction – 16 attacks near Krymske, Rusyn Yar, Druzhba, Toretsk, and Yablunivka settlements.
Pokrovsk direction – the hottest sector. Ukrainian forces stopped 55 attacks near Nova Poltavka, Pokrovsk, Kotliarivka, Novoukrainka, Andriivka, Novoolenivka, Zvirove, Malynivka, Yelyzavetivka, Myrne, Lysivka, Udachne, Novoserhiivka, Myroliubivka and Novomykolaivka.
Novopavlivka direction – 32 assaults near Fedorivka, Kostiantynopil, Rivnopil, Vilne Pole, Zaporizhzhia, and toward Zelene Pole, Novopil, Shevchenko, Komar, and Bahatur.
Huliaipole direction – no combat clashes recorded.
Orikhiv direction – 5 attacks near Stepove and Shcherbaky settlements.
Prydniprovskyi direction – one enemy attempt to breach ZSU positions.
Kursk direction – 26 combat clashes, 231 shellings (including one MLRS strike), 17 airstrikes, and 23 guided aerial bombs.
Volyn and Polissia directions – no signs of offensive group formations detected.
Russian losses in war
In the past 24 hours, Russian invaders lost 1,020 personnel.
Ukrainian forces also destroyed:
- 3 tanks
- 7 armored fighting vehicles
- 88 artillery systems
- 176 operational-tactical UAVs
- 123 vehicles
- 2 units of special equipment
- 1 heavy flamethrower system.
