Over the past day, January 16, 141 combat engagements took place in the frontline. The Russians put the most pressure on the Pokrovsk direction, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“Yesterday, the missile forces of the Defense Forces of Ukraine hit an area of Russian personnel concentration, 2 Russian control points, as well as 2 air defense facilities,” Ukraine's General Staff writes.
Sectors
The Russians did not conduct any active operations in the Kharkiv sector.
In the Kupiansk sector, the number of combat engagements reached 8. Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled the Russian attacks in the areas of Petropavlivka, Holubivka, Zahryzove, and Pishchane.
In the Lyman sector, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 13 Russian attacks. The Russians concentrated their efforts in the areas of Kopanky, Novoserhiivka, Hrekivka, Zelenyi Hai, Makiivk, and other localities.
In the Siversk sector, Russians attacked 5 times in the areas of Bilohorivka, Verkhniokamianske, and Ivan-Daryivka.
In the Kramatorsk sector, Russians tried to advance 7 times near Pryvillia, Bila Hora, Hryhorivka, and Chasiv Yar.
In the Toretsk sector, 14 Russian attacks were repelled.
In the Pokrovsk sector, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 53 Russian attacks. Russian troops are most active near Zelene Pole, Yelyzavetivka, Myroliubivka, Vodiane Druhe, and other localities.
In the Novopavlivka sector, Russians attempted to break through Ukrainian defenses 11 times.
In the Orikhiv sector, Russia attacked Novodanylivka.
In the Prydniprovskyi sector, Russians conducted 4 attempts to seize the positions of Ukrainian defenders.
In the Kursk sector, Russia conducted 20 assaults.
Russia's losses in war against Ukraine
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the Russian losses have amounted to more than 815,000 troops. Over the past day alone, losses amounted to 1,670 units. Ukrainian Defense Forces also destroyed 12 tanks, 13 armored combat vehicles, 4 artillery systems, and more.
