Over the past 24 hours, from January 16 to 17, the Russian army lost 1,670 soldiers, 12 tanks, and 13 armored personnel vehicles on the front, reports the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The total combat Russian losses from February 24, 2022, to January 17, 2025, are estimated to be:

  • personnel - about 815 820 (+1670) Russian troops were eliminated;
  • tanks - 9803 (+12);
  • armored personnel vehicle - 20 381 (+13);
  • artillery systems - 22 019 (+4);
  • MLRS - 1,262;
  • anti-aircraft warfare systems - 1,046;
  • aircraft - 369;
  • helicopters - 331;
  • UAV operational-tactical level- 22 566 (+63);
  • cruise missiles - 3,049;
  • warships/boats - 28;
  • submarines - 1;
  • vehicles and fuel tanks - 34 256 (+124);
  • special equipment - 3699 (+2).

Situation at front and Russian strikes on Ukraine

According to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), the Defense Forces achieved success in the Kursk region, but the Russian forces are exerting pressure on five fronts in the Donetsk region.

Throughout the night, Russia again attacked Ukraine with Shahed-type kamikaze drones.

In particular, the southern part of the Odesa region was hit by drones. In the Kyiv region, a child was injured due to drone debris falling.
