Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of December 26

Since the beginning of the day on December 26, 114 combat clashes have occurred on the front lines. Russian forces continue to actively use aviation, including KABs (guided aerial bombs), according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russian shelling
According to the General Staff, the enemy continues to use artillery and aviation against Ukrainian territory.
The areas of Oleksandrivka, Potapivka, Porozok, Fotovyzh, Bachevsk, Yanivka, Vovkivka, Seredyna-Buda, Petrushivka, Turya in Sumy region; Tymonovychi, Popivka, Hremyach, Zarichchia in Chernihiv region; and Vidrodzhenske in Kharkiv region came under enemy fire.
The enemy also carried out airstrikes with unguided rockets on the areas of Oleksandrivka and Popivka in Sumy region, as well as Hraniv in Kharkiv region.
Situation on the fronts
In the Kharkiv direction, two combat engagements took place today near Vovchansk and Starytsia.
Six assault actions by the enemy were repelled by our forces near Zapadne, Lozova, and Kruhlyakivka in the Kupiansk direction. Two combat engagements are still ongoing.
In the Lyman direction, the enemy is attacking in the areas of Kopanky, Cherneshchyna, Novoselivka, Platonivka, Zelenyi Hai, Druzheliubivka, Makiivka, Terny, Zarichne, Torske, Serebryanske forestry, and Hryhorivka. Since the beginning of the day, 18 combat engagements have been recorded in this direction, four of which are still ongoing.
In the Siversk direction, the Russian troops attacked three times in the area of Bilohorivka, but all attacks were successfully repelled by our defenders.
In the Toretsk direction, the enemy launched eight attacks on our positions near Diliivka and Toretsk, with two combat engagements still ongoing.
In the Pokrovsk direction, fierce battles are taking place in the areas of Vozdvyzhenka, Myrolyubivka, Promin, Lysivka, Zelene, Dachenske, Novyi Trud, Pishchane, Pokrovsk, Novoolenivka, Shevchenko, and Novotroitske. So far, the enemy has made 26 attempts to push our defenders from their positions, with 21 of these attacks repelled by our forces.
In the Kurakhove direction, 17 combat engagements continue in the areas of Petropavlivka, Slovyanka, and Kurakhove. Eleven enemy assaults have already been repelled by our defenders.
In the areas of Yantarne, Vremivka, Konstantynopil, Novy Komar, and Konstantynopilske in the Vremivka direction, our forces have repelled 12 enemy attacks, with six combat engagements still ongoing.
In the Hulyaipole direction, the enemy did not conduct active actions.
In the Orikhiv direction, in the area of Novoandriivka, the occupiers made a futile attempt to push our defenders from their positions.
In the Prydniprovskyi direction, our defenders repelled one enemy attack.
Ten combat engagements took place today in the Kursk direction, where the enemy dropped nine guided aerial bombs on the areas of settlements and our defense positions, and carried out 201 artillery shellings, including 13 from multiple rocket launch systems.
Russia's losses in the war
According to the General Staff, since the beginning of the full-scale war against Ukraine, Russia has lost over 780,000 soldiers.
In particular, over the past 24 hours, the Russian army has lost 1,540 personnel. Additionally, the Defense Forces destroyed 2 tanks, 10 armored fighting vehicles, 24 artillery systems, and other enemy equipment.
