Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of October 26
As of 10:00 p.m. on October 26 (Kyiv time), 159 combat engagements have occurred on the frontline since the start of the day, including 40 engagements each in the Pokrovsk and Kurakhove directions, according to the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Enemy shelling
According to the General Staff, Russian forces launched a missile attack with one missile, conducted 60 airstrikes involving 102 guided bombs, over 550 kamikaze drone strikes, and more than 3,500 shelling attacks on Ukrainian troop positions and civilian areas using various types of weaponry.
Frontline situation
In the Kharkiv direction, Ukrainian forces repelled seven clashes with Russian forces, successfully thwarting all attacks near Vovchansk and Starytsia.
In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy attempted 13 times to dislodge Ukrainian units from positions around Kindrashivka, Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Kruhliakivka, Zahryzove, Vyshneve, Berestove, and Pershotravneve. Two attacks are ongoing.
In the Lyman direction, Russian forces attacked 18 times toward Hrekivka, Makiivka, Terny, Torske, Zarichne, Serebrianka, and Hryhorivka. One engagement near Serebrianka remains active.
In the Siversk direction, Russian forces launched two attacks around Bilohorivka, which were unsuccessful.
In the Toretsk direction, the enemy made nine attempts to breach Ukrainian defenses. Defenders strongly repelled four assaults near Shcherbynivka and Toretsk since morning, while five attacks continue.
In the Pokrovsk direction, the enemy is intensifying its attacks. Russian forces conducted 40 offensive operations throughout the day. The heaviest activity remains in areas near Vozdvyzhenka, Myroliubivka, Promin, Lysivka, Krutyi Yar, Krasnyi Yar, Mykolaivka, and Selydove. Ukrainian defenders have repelled 36 attacks so far, with four engagements ongoing. Ukrainian forces maintain control despite a challenging situation, striving to prevent enemy advancement into Ukrainian territory.
“According to current data, enemy losses in this direction today amount to approximately 300 personnel killed or wounded. Five vehicles, one motorcycle, and one buggy were destroyed. Additionally, eight vehicles, three mortars, and one motorcycle were damaged,” the General Staff reports.
In the Kurakhove direction, there are 40 combat engagements so far. Russian forces remain highly active, attempting advances near Izmailivka, Stepanivka, Novodmytrivka, Novoselydivka, Hostre, Dalne, Antonivka, Kostiantynivka, Yelyzavetivka, and Katerynivka. Defense forces have repelled 33 enemy attacks, with seven ongoing.
In the Vremivka direction, Ukrainian troops halted one assault near Bohoyavlenka.
In the Orikhiv direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled one unsuccessful enemy attack near Novodanilivka today.
In the Prydniprovskyi direction, Ukrainian forces repelled five attacks on their positions by Russian troops.
Additionally, the Ukrainian forces continue their operation in the Kursk region. Meanwhile, Russian aviation continues to target Russian territory with guided bombs. So far, 21 airstrikes involving 34 guided bombs have been reported.
In other directions, no significant changes in the situation have been observed.
"Special recognition is due today to the warriors of the 65th Separate Mechanized Brigade, the 124th Separate Territorial Defense Brigade, the 25th Separate Airborne Sicheslav Brigade, the 42nd Separate Mechanized Brigade, and the 425th Separate Assault Battalion Skala, who are skillfully and decisively eliminating Russian forces," the General Staff concluded.
On October 25, 192 combat engagements occurred on the frontline, with the enemy focusing most heavily, as today, in the Pokrovsk and Kurakhove directions.
