Since the start of the day, as of 22:00 on October 21, 107 battles have occurred along the front lines. The heaviest fighting has been recorded in the Pokrovsk and Kurakhove directions, according to the evening briefing from the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Enemy losses

The General Staff noted that today, Russian forces launched two missile strikes and 68 airstrikes on Ukrainian territory, dropping 113 guided aerial bombs. In addition, the enemy deployed over 683 kamikaze drones and conducted more than three thousand shellings of Ukrainian military positions and civilian areas.

Frontline situation

In the Kharkiv direction, the enemy unsuccessfully attempted to storm our units' positions twice near Vovchansk and Lyptsi.

In the Kupiansk direction, the Russian army conducted offensive actions near Stelmakhivka, Dzherelne, Vyshneve, Zelenyi Hai, Pishchane, and Lozova. Ukrainian defenders halted two enemy attacks, while two more clashes are ongoing.

In the Lyman direction, Russian forces launched 14 attacks on the Defense Forces' positions near Hrekivka, Novomykhailivka, Makiivka, Petropavlivka, Katerynivka, Lyman Pershyi, and Terni. Four clashes are still taking place.

In the Siversk direction, our defenders repelled two assaults by the Russian forces toward Verkhnokamianske and Pereizne, with the enemy achieving no success.

In the Kramatorsk direction, the enemy, supported by aviation, stormed our positions near Chasiv Yar. The situation is under control.

In the Toretsk direction, an assault on the positions of Ukrainian units near the town of Toretsk is currently ongoing, also supported by aviation.

Since the beginning of the day in the Pokrovsk direction, the enemy has attacked 35 times in the areas of Sukha Balka, Vozdvyzhivka, Myrolyubivka, Krasnyi Yar, Promin, Lysivka, Krutyi Yar, Selydove, and Mykhailivka. Our defenders repelled 27 assaults, with eight attacks still ongoing, and the situation remains under control.

"Today, in this direction, preliminary reports indicate that 313 Russian soldiers were neutralized, of which 138 were killed. Additionally, one tank, nine armored fighting vehicles, and seven vehicles were destroyed, while a Buk missile system, two artillery systems, and six armored fighting vehicles sustained significant damage," the report states.

In the Kurakhove direction, the enemy made 27 attempts to breach our defenses near Hirnyk, Novodmytrivka, Maksymilianivka, Heorhiivka, Dalne, Katerynivka, and Antonivka. Twenty-two clashes have concluded, while five are still ongoing.

"Preliminary reports indicate that enemy losses, both killed and wounded, amount to 70 personnel in this direction. Additionally, two tanks and four armored fighting vehicles were destroyed, and one tank, one artillery system, and two armored fighting vehicles sustained damage," the General Staff reported.

In the Vremivka direction, the enemy launched five attacks on our units near Bohoyavlenka, Novoukrianka, and Zolote. One enemy attack is still ongoing.

In the Orikhiv direction, Russian forces attempted to storm the positions of the Defense Forces once near Mala Tokmachka.

In the Prydniprovskyi direction, our troops repelled four attacks, with the enemy achieving no success.

In the other directions, there are no significant changes.

Meanwhile, operations continue in the Kursk region, where enemy aviation continues to strike their villages and towns with guided aerial bombs.

"Today, we would like to recognize the soldiers of the 63rd Separate Mechanized Brigade, the 38th Separate Marine Brigade, the 42nd Separate Mechanized Brigade, the 422nd Separate Battalion Unmanned Systems, and the 35th Separate Marine Brigade, who are effectively destroying the enemy and inflicting significant losses in personnel and equipment," the General Staff summarized.

As of the morning of October 21, 2024, it is noted that Russian losses since the start of the full-scale aggressive war against Ukraine have exceeded 680,000 soldiers. In just one day, from October 20 to 21, the enemy lost as many as 1,710 soldiers.
