Russia's losses in Ukraine as of October 21: Another 1,710 troops and 24 tanks

On October 21, Russian military losses reached 1,710 troops. Since the beginning of the invasion of Ukraine, Russia has lost more than 680,000 soldiers, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The total combat losses of the enemy from February 24, 2022, to October 21, 2024, are estimated as follows:
- Personnel: about 680,230 (+1,710) eliminated
- Tanks: 9,071 (+24)
- Troop-carrying AFVs: 18,175 (+64)
- Artillery systems: 19,589 (+24)
- MLRS (Multiple launch rocket systems): 1,232 units
- Anti-aircraft systems: 979 (+1)
- Aircraft: 369
- Helicopters: 329
- UAVs operational-tactical level: 17,333 (+46)
- Cruise missiles: 2,624
- Warships/boats: 28
- Submarines: 1
- Vehicles and fuel tanks: 27,034 (+47)
- Special equipment: 3,479 (+3)
Frontline situation
Since the beginning of October 20, there have been 167 combat engagements on the front. Russian invaders applied the most pressure in two directions in the Donetsk region.
According to the Institute for the Study of War, Ukrainian forces were successful north of Sudzha in the Kursk region. Meanwhile, Russian occupiers advanced near Toretsk and Selydove in the Donetsk region.
