As of 10:00 p.m. on October 18 (Kyiv time), 195 combat engagements had occurred on the frontlines throughout the day. Ukrainian defenders continue to decisively repel the enemy's attempts to advance deeper into Ukrainian territory, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Enemy shelling

Russian forces launched two missile strikes on Ukraine using three missiles, 47 air strikes, and 67 guided aerial bombs. In addition, Russian troops deployed 674 kamikaze drones and carried out more than 3,000 artillery attacks on Ukrainian military positions and civilian settlements.

Frontline situation

In the Kharkiv direction, Russian forces attempted one assault on Ukrainian units near Vovchansk.

In the Kupiansk direction, Russian forces conducted offensive operations near Holubivka, Synkivka, Novoosynove, Stepova Novoselivka, Pishchane, Kolisnykivka, Vyshneve, and Lozova. Ukrainian defenders successfully repelled all 23 enemy attacks.

In the Lyman direction, Russian forces launched 14 assaults on Ukrainian positions near Hrekivka, Druzheliubivka, Terny, Makiivka, and Torske. One engagement is still ongoing.

In the Kramatorsk direction, the enemy attacked Ukrainian positions near Chasiv Yar and Stupochky, supported by air power. Ukrainian forces halted both assaults.

In the Toretsk direction, Russian forces assaulted Ukrainian positions near Diliivka and Toretsk, and seven clashes occurred. All Russian attacks were repelled.

In the Pokrovsk direction, the enemy has launched 34 attacks in Romanivka, Selydove, Promin, and Mykhailivka. Ukrainian defenders repelled 28 assaults, and six clashes are still ongoing.

"Preliminary data shows that 220 enemy personnel were neutralized in this direction today, 124 of them irreversibly. One piece of military vehicle was also destroyed," the General Staff stated.

In the Kurakhove direction, the enemy made 55 attempts to breach Ukrainian defenses near Zhelanne Druhe, Novodmytrivka, Hirnyk, Novoselydivka, Kurakhivka, Heorhiivka, Antonivka, Dalne, Katerynivka, and Kostiantynivka. Fifty-one engagements have ended, while four are still ongoing.

"According to preliminary data, enemy losses in this direction amounted to 123 killed or wounded. One armored fighting vehicle and one military truck were also destroyed, with one tank and two armored fighting vehicles damaged," the General Staff noted.

In the Vremivka direction, the enemy attacked Ukrainian units near Novoukrainka and Bohoyavlenka ten times.

In the Orikhiv direction, Russian forces attempted one assault on Ukrainian positions in the area of Novodanylivka.

In the Prydniprovskyi direction, the enemy launched six unsuccessful attacks on Ukrainian defenders.

No significant changes have been reported in other directions.

"Today, it is worth highlighting the soldiers of the 128th Separate Mountain Assault Transcarpathian Brigade, the 35th Separate Marine Brigade named after Rear Admiral Mykhailo Ostrogradsky, the 28th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after the Knights of the Winter Campaign, the 42nd Separate Mechanized Brigade, and the 14th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Prince Roman the Great, who are effectively inflicting significant losses on the enemy in personnel and equipment," the General Staff summarized.

It should be noted that Russia’s losses from October 17 to 18 amounted to 1,530 military personnel. In total, since the beginning of the full-scale war against Ukraine, Russia has lost 675,800 soldiers.
