Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of August 18
Over the past 24 hours, 139 combat clashes were recorded on the front lines. The number of enemy attacks has increased not only in the Pokrovsk direction but also in the Lyman and Toretsk directions, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Over the past day, the aviation, missile forces, and artillery of the Defense Forces carried out 18 strikes on areas where enemy personnel and equipment were concentrated, hitting nine artillery systems and two other significant enemy targets.
Situation by direction:
In the Kharkiv direction, six combat clashes occurred near the settlements of Vovchansk and Lyptsi.
In the Kupiansk direction, ten enemy attacks were recorded. The Defense Forces repelled assault actions near Berestove and Stelmakhivka.
In the Lyman direction, the enemy launched 24 attacks, attempting to advance near Makiivka, Nevske, Hrekivka, Novoyehorivka, and Dibrova.
In the Siversk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled nine enemy assaults near Spirne, Vyimka, and Pereizne.
In the Kramatorsk direction, the occupiers attacked 12 times near Chasiv Yar and Ivanivske. The situation remains under control.
In the Toretsk direction, the enemy, supported by aviation, carried out 19 attacks near Pivnichne, Toretsk, and Zalizne.
In the Pokrovsk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled 46 enemy assault and offensive actions toward the settlements of Vozdvyzhenka, Myroliubivka, Novotroitske, Novohrodivka, Hrodivka, Mykolaivka, Zhelanne, and Zavitne. The highest concentration of enemy attacks was near Hrodivka, Mykolaivka, and Novozhelanne, where the enemy actively used assault and bomber aviation.
In the Kurakhove direction, the Defense Forces repelled eight attacks in the direction of Krasnohorivka.
In the Vremivka direction, the enemy conducted three attacks on Ukrainian positions near Vuhledar.
In the Prydniprovske direction, two unsuccessful enemy attempts to capture Ukrainian positions were recorded.
At the border with Sumy region, the enemy used aviation from Russian territory to strike areas of Ukrainian settlements.
Recall that since the start of the full-scale invasion, Russia has lost over 599,000 troops. In the past 24 hours alone, Ukrainian defenders eliminated 1,170 Russian soldiers.
Additionally, the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue their offensive operation in the Kursk region. During the fighting, the SSU (Security Service of Ukraine) managed to capture more than a hundred Russian soldiers. This marks the largest single instance of enemy capture to date.
