Since the beginning of the day, 98 combat engagements have occurred on the frontlines, with the enemy concentrating attacks in the Pokrovsk direction, while also attempting to advance in the areas around Toretsk and Lyman in the Donetsk region, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Enemy shelling

Throughout the day, Russia launched three missile strikes on Ukrainian territory, utilizing three rockets, 64 airstrikes, and dropping 58 guided bombs.

In addition, the Russian troops deployed 463 kamikaze drones and carried out 2,668 shelling attacks on Ukrainian military positions and civilian settlements using various types of weapons.

Situation on the fronts:

In the Kharkiv direction, the Russian forces launched six assaults on Ukrainian positions near Vovchansk and Lyptsi. Fighting is still ongoing in Vovchansk.

According to the latest available information, Ukrainian defenders in the Kharkiv direction eliminated and wounded over 60 Russian occupiers, and destroyed a tank, an armored fighting vehicle, two artillery systems, 28 UAVs, four vehicles, and two units of specialized equipment.

Additionally, three artillery systems, three vehicles, and six units of specialized enemy equipment were damaged.

In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy attacked Ukrainian defense positions eight times. Near the settlements of Berestove and Stelmakhivka, Defense Forces repelled seven offensive actions. The situation remains tense, with three engagements ongoing.

In the Lyman direction, Russian forces attacked Ukrainian defenders 17 times throughout the day in the areas around Makiivka, Nevske, Hrekivka, Novoyehorivka, and Dibrova. Currently, two engagements are still ongoing.

In the Siversk direction, the enemy attempted seven assaults to displace Ukrainian forces from their positions near Spirne, Vyimka, and Pereizne. All attacks were repelled with no success for the enemy.

In the Kramatorsk direction, Ukrainian forces repelled six attempts by Russian invaders to advance near Chasiv Yar and Ivanivske. Four attacks were repelled, and two engagements are still ongoing. The situation is under control.

In the Toretsk direction, Russian forces, supported by aviation, attacked Ukrainian positions 14 times near Pivnichne, Toretsk, and Zalizne. Nine engagements have concluded, while fighting continues in five other locations.

In the Pokrovsk direction, the enemy is focusing maximum efforts. Throughout the day, the Russian troops launched 35 attacks in the areas of Vozdvyzhenka, Myroliubivka, Novotroitske, Novohrodivka, Hrodivka, Mykolaivka, Zhelanne, and Zavitne. Ukrainian defenders have already repelled 20 attacks, with 15 engagements still underway.

Today, the enemy has lost more than 270 soldiers, killed or wounded, in this direction. One tank and six vehicles were destroyed. Additionally, Ukrainian forces inflicted significant damage on four artillery systems, an MLRS, a tank, and 12 enemy vehicles.

In the Kurakhiv direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled four enemy attempts to attack their positions. The invaders tried to advance near Kostyantynivka, and two engagements are still ongoing. The situation is under control.

In the Vremivka direction, the Russian forces attempted one assault on the front line near Vuhledar. Ukrainian soldiers stopped the enemy attack.

In the Prydniprovsk direction, the enemy attempted one assault action, which was unsuccessful. No positions were lost.

Russian forces are actively trying to replicate and mass-produce equipment that has contributed to Ukrainian success on the frontlines. Specifically, the Russian occupiers have targeted Ukrainian drones for copying.

On the afternoon of August 17, Russian forces struck Myrnohrad in the Donetsk region with a guided bomb, resulting in casualties, including one fatality and several injuries.

Over the past 24 hours, the Russian troops have lost more than 1,200 soldiers on the frontlines, as well as one air defense system and an MLRS.
