Russia's losses in Ukraine as of August 17: +1,230 troops and 58 artillery systems

Over the past day, from August 16 to 17, Russian forces lost 1,230 soldiers, an air defense system, and 58 artillery systems on the front line, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The total Russian combat losses from February 24, 2022, to August 17, 2024 are:
- personnel - about 598,180 (+1230) troops;
- tanks - 8501 (+5);
- armored personnel vehicles - 16,473 (+12);
- artillery systems - 16,985 (+58);
- MLRS - 1160 (+1);
- anti-aircraft warfare systems - 923 (+1);
- aircraft - 367;
- helicopters - 328;
- UAVs operational-tactical level - 13,714 (+55);
- cruise missiles - 2,432 (+3);
- warships/boats - 28;
- submarines - 1;
- vehicles and fuel tanks - 22,913 (+65);
- special equipment - 2844 (+15).
It should be noted that, according to ISW, the invaders had some success near three cities in the Donetsk region.
Meanwhile, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are actively advancing in the Kursk region. However, Ukrainian forces were unable to enter and secure positions in the Belgorod region.
Last night, Russia once again launched a massive drone strike on Ukraine. Air raid alerts were declared in Kyiv and many other regions, and air defense systems were activated.
